On July 1, 2000, a new law went into effect in Kansas to promote a greater awareness of the election process, the rights and responsibilities of voters, and the importance of participating in the electoral process. This law was designed for students, and to help election officials fill positions at the polling place on Election Day. The law allows a maximum of one student precinct board member at a polling place.
Eligible students possess the following qualifications:
The Student Election Worker Program provides eligible students with the opportunity to participate in government, serve the community, and learn about the electoral process. This opportunity will encourage students to become active voters once they reach 18 years of age.
